1. Do you realise the importance of protecting the environment from pollution? Check how much you remember by answering the following questions:

(a) The air mixed with dust and smoke is polluted air. How does the air get polluted in an industrial area?

Answer: The air mixed with dust and smoke is polluted air. In an industrial area the air get polluted when smokes are coming out of chimneys and the air becomes thick with clouds of smoke.

(b) Why do we need clean and fresh air?

Answer: We need clean and fresh air to breathe. Without breathing no life can be survive in this world.

(c) What happens when the air becomes polluted?

Answer: When the polluted air goes into our lungs, we can fall ill.

(d) Why is our environment getting spoilt?

Answer:  Our environment is getting spoilt due so the pollution. The polluted air, water, and soil everything is very dangerous for our environment.

(e) How can we protect our environment?

Answer: There have some important point given below to protect our environment:

·     To make people aware of the dangers of destroying the world around us.

·     Plantation is a great and most successful way to protect our environment.

 (f) How do green plants and trees help us and our environment?

Answer: The green plants and trees protect us and our environment. It enriches the air with oxygen. They use the carbon dioxide and other harmful gases.

(g) What steps should we take to keep our environment clean?

Answer: To keep our environment clean we should be taken the steps given below:

Cars and buses should be cleaned regularly to reduce the release of harmful gases.

Factories must be adopting measures to protect the environment.

(h) How does water become polluted?

Answer: The garbage that we dump into rivers pollutes the water, as well as the industrial waste and the wastes from commercial establishments make the river and other sources of water toxic.

(i) How does soil become polluted?

Answer: Use of too many pesticides, dumping of non degradable and industrial wastes damage the soil and make it polluted.
