6. Multilingualism is a resource in an Indian
classroom. Justify. 3
Answer: It is possible
to use the multilingual diversity as a resource in our classroom by maintaining
multilingualism at the center of language teaching activities. But how exactly
do we do that? If you, for instance, have to teach them a poem in English, what
could you possibly do?
Here is an example:
Get them first to recite the
English poem. Then, focus on the theme that it deals with. Next, let them
identify subtle elements and features of the poem that they may identify. Now,
split your class into groups to translate the poem into any other language of
their choice. Finally, get each group to present their translated versions of
the poem. What you will find is that once this activity is done, many rich
discussions will naturally emerge around the poem.
7. Bring out the distinction

8. Communicative language approach
facilitates the learners to use English language fluently in real life
situation. Justify. 3
Answer: The communicative approach is an approach which is
worldwide known and established approach. It has established itself in many
parts of the world as a way of teaching languages, especially English. The
communicative approach is based on the idea that in order to learn a second
language successfully, you have to communicate real meaning. Thus, when
learners are involved in real communication, their natural strategies for
language acquisition will be active and used, and this will allow them to learn
to use the language in real life situation. According to Harmer J. (2001,
pg.69) one of the thing that communicative language embraces within its family
is the concept of how language is used.
9. Explain how you will teach
grammar to the students of elementary level. 3
Answer: Grammar can
bring groans and dismissive shrugs from students and teachers. There are so
many strategies to teach grammar in elementary level. Even though grammar may
not be a favorite subject to teach, there’s one argument that cannot be
refuted: grammar is a pivotal skill
to learn when it comes to writing, reading, and speaking well.
Grammar activities don’t need to be boring in order to be rigorous.
For example Educational
videos can be a great way to grab younger students’ attention and
help them see how different parts of speech and rules of punctuation work
together to create meaningful sentences.
10. Written works are effective
indicators of summative assessment. Discuss with examples. 4
Answer: A summative
assessment takes place at the end of a unit or course of study. It assesses
students’ level of knowledge, skill acquisition, and/or content understanding.
There are many purposes to summative assessments in instruction, but the main
goal of any assessment is to provide clear communication between student and
teacher.
Here have an example of written
summative assessment-
Formal essays allow students to
demonstrate their level of knowledge about a subject matter. Essay writing is a
useful skill that communicates one's idea and understanding of a concept. Ask
your students to write essays on the core topics and themes discussed in

Students can explain a concept,
argue for or against a subject matter or simply narrate their learning
experience as descriptive prose.

Sometimes
students just want to get up and move, so the ambitious teacher might try to
combine spelling with sport. With a small package of balloons, we can play an
instant spelling game.
Game
rules:
Put students into groups of three with two
students facing each other and a referee standing to the side. The referee says
a word (from a list) and the players spell it letter by letter as they volley
the balloon back and forth. The referee listens for poor spellings and awards
points.
